Our vision:
Poverty is injustice
In many cases poverty and injustice are man-made. They are consequence of unequal power relations. No matter how different the situation may be, one element is always the same: people who live in poverty hardly have a say in their own lives.
Basic rights for everybody
All over the world governments and international authorities acknowledge that every human being should be able to claim basic rights such as enough food, proper education, security, etc. But the implementation leaves a lot to be desired. 11.11.11 dedicates itself to enforce these rights.
Alternative globalization
The current globalization subjects almost all aspects of social life to the rules of free market, but does not offer a solution. Without control mechanisms inequality will only grow. Only with a proper government control a free market can play an important role in the struggle against poverty and inequality.
Join forces for structural changes
11.11.11 concentrates on lobbying policy makers, because a good policy framework is essential for a well-balanced and sustainable development. Of course we keep away from party politics. But in order to change unfair structures — i.e. to prevent that development cooperation is just a waste of efforts — we should address ourselves to the authorities that define the policy lines. We do this in cooperation with our members in our own country, with our partner organizations in the South and through international networks of like-minded organizations.
