Espoir Mugabo Kulimushi holds a bachelor's degree in Rural Development, with a specialization in Regional Planning, from ISDR-Bukavu, in DR Congo. Directly after his higher studies, Espoir Mugabo Kulimushi joined the research center Angaza Institute - Center for Research and Analysis of Conflicts and Governance, based at ISDR – Bukavu. Espoir is also a teacher at ISDR-KAZIBA. His current research focuses primarily on the dynamics of access and control of natural resources; peasant resistance in the Great Lakes region; and land dynamics and connectivity in urban areas. Espoir is also involved in different research projects, including the ACRC AFRICAN CITIES RESEACH CONSORTIUM Project with the University of Manchester; the ICP Connect project, in partnership with the University of Antwerp and CEGEMI of the Catholic University of Bukavu; and is currently a recipient of the Insecure Livelihoods Fellowiship (ILF) program at Ghent University. Espoir is author of the article “gold panning and child labor in Luhihi/DRC during the Covid-19 period: between precariousness and resilience, 2020,” and co-author of the article “Governance of Protected Areas and Integration Pygmy indigenous peoples. Reality around the high altitude of Kahuzi-Biega National Park in the DRC, 2020.”
